Daisy Award
The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP (Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura) in 1999.
During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say "thank you" to his nurses in a very public way, so they established the DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem) Award.
Please say thank you by sharing your story of how a Ottumwa Regional Nurse nurse made a difference you will never forget!
BEE AWARD
Just as the Daisy cannot survive without the help from the Bee, the nurse cannot survive without the outstanding interdisciplinary teamwork they receive from support staff. The BEE (Bee Excellent Everyday) Award recognizes all hospital employees outside of nursing. Those Eligible for the BEE Award include all hospital employees outside of nursing. Examples include: nursing assistants, therapists, housekeepers, dietary, EMS, etc
