DR. DOMINIC A. FORMARO JR., JOINS OTTUMWA REGIONAL HEALTH CENTER

Ottumwa, IA (April 9, 2025) - Ottumwa Regional Health Center today announced that Dominic A. Formaro Jr., DO, a board-certified general surgeon, has joined the medical staff and will be offering general surgical services to the Ottumwa community and the surrounding region.
Dr. Formaro, a Des Moines native, will expand the hospital’s capabilities to meet the growing demand for high-quality surgical care.

Dr. Formaro earned his undergraduate degree from Drake University and completed his medical education at Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine & Surgery before completing his residency at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He joins the hospital’s medical staff following nine years as an assistant professor in the Department of Specialty Medicine at Des Moines University and seven years as a general surgeon at UnityPoint Clinic in Des Moines.
Dr. Formaro is a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) & American Medical Association (AMA), Association for Surgical Education (ASE), Iowa Osteopathic Medical Association (IOMA) and American Association for Physician Leadership.
Dr. Formaro’s arrival comes as part of a broader commitment by the Ottumwa Regional Health Center to expand its surgical services and provide local access to advanced surgical care.
